Safety inspection before use of gourds: hook inspection

　　Before operating the hoist, it is important to inspect the hook to ensure its safety and absence of defects before lifting the load. When inspecting FDA conveyor hooks, there are some key points to note:

　　1. Deformation

　　Deformation may be a sign of overloading, side pulling, or improper use of rigging techniques. In some cases, the deformation of the hook may be significant. Look for any bends, twists, cracks, or sharp edges that may damage your sling. Measuring the width of the hook opening can detect subtle deformation of the hook. Compare the measured hook size with the parameters in the product instructions. If it exceeds the original size by 5%, the use of this hook should be stopped. In addition, some hooks are pre marked or raised between the hook mouth and the hook seat, which are reference points for measurement. Legitimate lifting equipment manufacturers will provide the measurement method and corresponding size of the hook in the product manual.

　　2. Wear and corrosion

　　Check for excessive wear or rust on the hook. If the wear or corrosion exceeds 10% of the original cross-sectional size of the hook, the use of this hook should be discontinued.

　　3. Cracks and chisels

　　When you can put your nails into the cracks or chisels that appear on the hook, it means that the hook can no longer be used.

　　4. Insurance buckle

　　According to lifting regulations, hooks should be equipped with safety buckles and must be operable. When the hook is not under force, the safety plate fixes the lifting device in the hook. The safety buckle is not a load-bearing component, and it is easy to damage it when using incorrect lifting equipment.

　　Check the safety buckle and ensure that it overlaps with the hook tip when in the closed position and opens and closes normally.

　　5. Bolt and pin

　　Check all bolts and pins on the hook to ensure they are securely fastened; Check the connecting pins to ensure that the hook seat and chain are securely connected; At the same time, it is necessary to ensure that the hook rotates 360 degrees when unloaded.

　　6. Hook modification

　　Opening holes and welding on the hook can cause damage to the hook body. If you need a special purpose hook, please order from the lifting equipment manufacturer.

　　If you see any abnormal situation on the hook, please stop using the hook/hoist immediately. No longer in use until replacement and repair.
